There are seven fields of Graphic Design that you can choose from as your major. You can pick from these specializations:
Multimedia Design
In this field, you will learn to utilize different types of designs (visual effects, graphics, animation, images) to create engaging visual content for a variety of media (mobile applications, website ads, magazines).
Animation and Motion Graphics Design
As digital platform grows, motion graphics and animations are no longer reserved for film. This new field requires various skills in coding, 3D modeling, and even marketing. You will create animations for logos, promotional videos, apps, websites, video games, GIFs, and many more.
Interior Design
If showroom and furniture exhibitions excite you, you are probably suited for interior design! Most building structures require a little design: cafes, restaurants, offices, homes, and even hospitals. This is when you step in and design aesthetically pleasing rooms and spaces to enhance their overall appearance.
Marketing and Advertising Graphic Design
Marketing and advertising rely on visual content to create more engagement with the audience. As graphic design contributes to the efforts of influencing an audience’s decision-making process, you should be familiar with different design presentations and applications as well as have general knowledge of consumer behaviour.
Visual Identity Graphic Design
In this field, you will work closely with business organizations to create a unique visual identity for them. Visual identity covers logos, colour palettes, business cards, and typography that showcases a brand’s personality. You should know about the different design elements across the general media to create versatile designs.
Social Media Design
Social media is one of the most effective platforms for marketing. An advertisement on Instagram, TikTok or Facebook relies heavily on aesthetic designs to increase traffic. Visual content like animations, GIFs, videos, and images are the heartbeat of a social media marketing campaign. Users will most likely pay attention to visual content before written content, so you’ll need to work your magic in this field.
User Interface Graphic Design
User Interface (UI) sounds foreign and complex, but you will be responsible for the fun part: design. In UI design, you will focus on designing an interface to create a user-friendly experience for web pages, desktop and mobile applications, and games. These include designing icons, buttons, menu, and many more. You must know how to balance functionality and aesthetic appeal.
