With a New Zealand student visa, you can work for up to 20 hours a week (Full-time) when you’re studying. During summer breaks, you can work up to 40 hours a week, whereas research and PhD students are allowed to work 40 hours a week at all times.

Once you have finished your study, you are eligible to stay on and work in New Zealand. You can apply for a post-study work visa with a New Zealand qualification. This will allow you to stay in New Zealand and get some practical work experience for up to three years.
