Study Mechatronic Engineering Abroad!

Introduction to Mechatronic Engineering

Mechatronics is a multifaceted industry that integrates computer, electrical, and mechanical engineering in the advanced automated manufacturing industry. Mechatronic engineers combine these engineering elements to design straightforward and smarter systems. This industry plays a fundamental role in automation and manufacturing processes.

Mechanics, robotics, and control systems are usual terms that you will encounter in mechatronic engineering. If you have a knack for creating machines and robots, you will enjoy studying in this program. Besides, you get the best of both worlds here; engineers in this industry can work in both mechanical and engineering areas. This industry allows you to explore different types of machinery and robots from massive manufacturing robots to control systems and operations. Your expertise even allows you to design prototypes and control systems for amusement parks!

Thanks to technological advances, there are plenty of industries that require mechatronic engineers: mining, aviation, defense, transport, mining, and other areas involving mechatronic engineering. Engineers in this field also play a large role in designing reliable safety features of transportation such as brakes. In this field, you will be exposed to multiple engineering software and computer-aided design (CAD) that help engineers design, analyze, and simulate complicated mechatronic systems.

Fields of Mechatronic Engineering

There are four fields of Mechatronic Engineering that you can choose from as your major. You can pick from these specializations:

Robotics

This field combines mechanical and electrical engineering. Engineers in this field deal with computer control systems to devise smart and efficient machines. You get to create efficient robots that help in deep-sea exploration, precision manufacturing, and even to enhance household products to make them easier to use for the elderly. The aerospace industry also needs more robotics experts to aid in designing and manufacturing equipment.

Instrumentation

Smoke detectors, blood glucose meters, and temperature sensors are examples of products created by instrumentation engineers. Engineers work closely with control systems and machines in the manufacturing department. They plan, install, monitor, and maintain these systems while using sensors to provide feedback. They are responsible for designing instruments that measure pressure, pH, voltage, and many more.

Industrial Automation

This field focuses on reducing human errors in controlling machines by minimizing human involvement through the use of technology. Engineers create smart systems that can learn, respond, and self-adjust according to any changes. This means that machines can automatically perform human tasks especially in the manufacturing industry where precision and accuracy are important.

Controls

This field is closely linked to the automobiles and telecommunications industries using the application of precise calculations as well as electrical and electronic components. Control engineers design new and efficient methods to improve the processes of construction, installation, and manufacturing.

What are the skills needed?

Crafty – You easily create something from a limited bunch of items. You are skillful at hands-on subjects and are capable of bringing ideas into reality, even if it includes building them from scratch.

Investigative – You find answers to questions that your peers don’t bother asking. Your curious nature will bring you far into the mechatronic engineering program as you will constantly think of ways to improvise and expand ideas.

Realistic – You stay grounded with your thoughts and decisions, and you prefer to be practical and realistic while solving problems.
