Layer Your Clothing Well In Winter 

As the saying goes, “when in Rome, do as the Romans do”. It is best to observe the locals and what they wear, regardless of your study abroad destination.

Layering up during Winter is crucial as it helps to maintain your core body heat. Here’s how to effectively layer up to stay warm despite the freezing cold:

• Start with a regular, snug-fitting undershirt. (e.g. T-shirts, tank-tops, long-sleeved T-shirts)
• Put on a thin mid-layer. Wool or polyester, or a combination of the two will suffice.
• Wear an outerwear of your choice, according to how cold or windy it is. Top it off with a waterproof layer.
• For your lower body, put on inner leggings or runner’s tights before your ordinary pants.
• If the weather is frigid, keep your hands and feet warm by wearing gloves and insulated boots. Put on a cloth face mask for the extra warmth.

I had lived in Korea for four months for a Winter Student Exchange Program, and bought most of my winter clothing according to the advice of my Korean friends. Needless to say, I managed to stay warm and comfortable without looking like a fashion disaster.

They’ve lived there all their lives, so listening to their advice is a smart move!

‘Sunny’ Is Just A Figure of Speech 

Sorry to disappoint, but sunniness does not guarantee a warm day.

In temperate countries where the weather is not excessively hot or cold, you can still feel the chill. The sun is mere decoration in the sky. Even sea temperatures can be cold despite the so-called summer – you can bid your swimsuit goodbye.

If there’s one good thing about it, it’s that you’ll never take the warmth of the sun for granted.

Spring Is The Best Season  

If there’s anything to prepare for Spring, it’s a good camera and picnic supplies.

It is the best time for a picnic or a photoshoot session with friends because everywhere is the perfect background for an Insta-worthy post!

With the perfect balance of warm and cool weather, flowers in bloom and extra hours of daylight, and not to forget, Easter – there’s nothing to dislike about Spring.

Even jogging feels like a sightseeing tour in a garden of flowers when it’s Springtime!

Embrace The Beautiful Mess of Autumn 

Autumns can get messy.

But hear me out – it’s such a beautiful mess that you’d forgive the heaps of leaves that you have to sweep every day.

It can be frustrating when you have to clean the yard daily, only to find a new batch of leaves eagerly covering it up again. But there’s something about the streaks of red, yellow, and orange decorating the pavement that feels so magical. The whole neighborhood just looks like a fairytale town!
