Top Private Universities In Malaysia In QS World Rankings 2021

The QS World University Rankings has revealed its list for top private universities in Malaysia for 2021.  

In a QS Ranking, universities are evaluated based on the following metrics: Academic Reputation, Citations per Faculty, Faculty/Student Ratio, International Faculty/Student Ratio and Employer Reputation.

As a testament to the quality of its Hospitality and Leisure Management subject, Taylor’s University held the position of Top 20 in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2020, making it the only university in Malaysia to do so. The university also ranked #1 as the first choice for employers in the QS World University 2020 Rankings.

They also achieved a QS 5 stars in their online learning concept, termed Borderless Learning. The programme utilizes an e-learning platform that ensures that both local and international students are able to attend classes and engage in group discussions virtually. Access to online resources is readily available and students can participate in class activities to discuss projects, presentations, and assignments.   

UCSI University  

UCSI University improved its ranking in the QS World University Rankings 2021 by 51 spots, climbing up to rank #391. The university held a similar achievement for the category of Top 60 Universities under 50 years old, ranking between 51 – 60.

Their Faculty of Business and Information Science was ranked as one of the world’s Top 400 schools in the QS World University Rankings Subject 2020, while the Institute of Music emerged as one of the Top 100 schools for Performing Arts for the third time in a row.  

The university uses Blended Learning as an online learning platform for students to access their lectures and tutorials in real-time. They can also participate in practical lab sessions to share data experiments, case study discussions, and experience virtual simulations to enhance practical learning.  

Virtual e-learning platforms such as forums, online library, student activity and counselling are all provided to enhance the online experience at UCSI University. In doing so, students find the joy and flexibility in freedom of learning. 

Management and Science University (MSU)  

MSU ranked #139 in the QS Asia University Rankings 2021, which is 40 spots ahead from its placement last year. The university also rose 18 ranks in academic reputation and 22 in employer reputation.

Sunway University  

Sunway University placed in the Top 1.5% of universities in Asia and ranked between #701 – 750 in the QS World University Rankings 2021.
