Review: Though I was in the IT field, I ended up deserting it after graduation. I had hoped to pursue a career in IT but I did not feel sufficiently equipped with knowledge to apply it in a working environment. The compulsory internship helped to be sure, but it was not enough. While it’s an excellent degree and I’m not complaining per se, I just think that there are different types of students who struggle through different problems and it would be nice if the course helped prep all kinds of students and instilled enough knowledge to be prepared for work life.

Review: The university had close relations with industry partners and prepared us well for the real world of computing. Throughout my years of study Foundation + Degree (total 4 years) the lecturers have invited and collaborated with many quality employers eg Microsoft, Hilti, etc. for keynote speakers. They were all eye opening and provided a good bridge for clueless students into becoming potential job candidates.

Review: IMU is well-known for health sciences courses, in fact they only specialize in that particular field. Most of the lecturers are experienced with industrial knowledge (so their views and teachings are up to date) while some are not, which i think it’s normal no matter which uni you attend.
Don’t be surprised to find some lecturers use very boring teaching methods (eg. reading from slides) and some even have bad command of English because they were trained in a non-mandarin speaking countries (eg. Taiwan/China).
However, they are experts in what they do, they obtained awards and industry recognition and they are also board members in international bodies/organizations.
There’s one downside that might put people off is the campus size, it’s relatively small which is just a 3-storey buildings, we have to rent stadiums or fields if a bigger sport events were to be held. However, the construction of the new hospital is underway whereby medical students will have a choice to pursue their internships opposite the campus. Currently, there’s dental, chiro and Chinese medicine clinics that are open to the public with certified doctors, students who pursue related degrees will no doubt get very hand-on experience from treating walk-in patients.
The library is not very huge so there might be limited space during exam seasons, books are relatively new but we do have subscriptions to all online journal portals so students need not worry about staying in the know.
Scholarships are limited, student mobility programs could be expensive as well but do consult the student service department to obtain more assistance. There are a lot of twinning programms as IMU partnered with a lot of well-know universities around the world, choices won’t be a problem as long as you are financial capable of paying because IMU is well-known for being more expensive compared to other private institutions such as UTAR and UCSI but most probably on par with Monash and Taylor’s.
Student lounge is quite small either with a dance room and a music room, but the uni is meeting the expectations to provide as many varieties as possible by keeping the construction for each function small. The only thing that is huge are the lecture theaters at level 3, convocations are usually held there.
In terms of co-curricular, we have a basketball court and a futsal/badminton court for sports. We would have to rent stadiums or fields when it comes to hosting bigger sport competitions. However, our annual IMU Cup would be held in the uni.
The location of the uni is pretty strategic, it’s opposite the Sri Petaling lrt station. The nearest town to get a wider variety of food or basic necessities would be the Sri Petaling town which is around 5 mins drive, else you can hop on the train or any public transport to travel to the heart of KL like Bukit Bintang or further. So it is nearer to the heart of KL compared to campuses like Taylor’s or Monash.

Review: When I was there it was not crazy expensive if compared to other private uni (in MY), nowadays for 3 years program I heard its exceeding 100k. Overall in terms of recognition it is a srs business brand image, all the exams are actually graded according to AU standard regardless of whether you wrote it in MY AU or SA countries. Hence fair grading applies (even though the lecturer here may be MY lecturer due to logistics) but course materials are similar, exams are the same, and can say that the degree is world class lah. 😄

Review: The University always provide up-to-date knowledge, technology, comfortable classroom with the latest software and hardware for students. Always encourage students to participate in educational things as well as SRC & CSR matters. The campus environment was really cool and so many types of facilities are provided including Multi Purpose Hall, Swimming Pool, nice cafeteria, lake for kayaking activities and etc.

Review: USM is one of the top universities and among the 5 research universities in Malaysia. The nature of the university encourages students to explore beyond classroom learnings such as to be involved in university associations to gain experience. This has helped me a lot in facing the real working environment. In terms of my major, some courses offered have definitely useful for and directly related to my career. Review: Sunway University provided a good American Degree Transfer Program (ADTP). The instructors and department head utilized their connections with affiliated universities in the US and Canada to prepare their students for the transfer to another country through various conference sessions and development programs. Like anything else, there are things to work on but since it has been a few years since I graduated I cannot say for sure what are the changes they have implemented. During the course of my studies, the instructors and program were developed fairly well. Additionally, the large university campus was a great plus – holding multiple facilities that I personally thought was beneficial to students with easy access to various eateries and Sunway Pyramid.

Review: In my college they teach you how to present your own artwork frequently & to be criticized often. That really helped me a lot in the working world (to face reality & be open-minded). And also we did a lot of useful practical exercises (different methods of printing), deeper study about basic design principles (we studied color theory for 2months), which I found most of uni out there didn’t really emphasize on. Which resulted in the lack of basic design principles designers has out there.

Review: Limkokwing University needs more intensity of teaching and guiding on the student, take for any creative courses, I think being more vulnerable to teach in depth is a very curative and essential process to develop our skills to face the odds when we set our career. In my opinion, the creative studies such as Filming and Audio engineering/ Music production, we did not meet our expectation on the quality of teaching. We did not have any state of the art facilities, we had only a little option for hands on. I hope Big institute like Limkokwing will improve in the ear future.

Review: Well known university but corrupted management. There are a lot of talented students but we are not getting proper education. The management should improve a lot in their side and have to prioritize their students more than anything else. Review: When i was taking MBA in Taylors, the university has just recently started with the program. Therefore, a lot of the lecturers are lecturer on part-time basis with the university. This results in Taylors offering the part-time opportunity to some of the outstanding lecturers from other universities to teach there. The results is a better than average education in terms of how the contents were taught to the students.
Most of the lecturer did not really approach the subject in a purely academic manner and focusing more on life experience, knowledge and opinions that sometimes might be out of exam syllabus but is great to know about and is a great point for class discussion.
HOWEVER taylors has seems to find that this MBA program is potentially profitable thus started to hire full time lecturers that teach several subjects resulting on some of the subjects that they thought are not their forte for cost saving and economics of scale. Therefore i think the outstanding review that i have provided to the university during my time there is no longer relevant.

Review: Very few good lecturer. Very theoritical focusing on parts of assignments like literature review, format and introduction for evaluation which does not contribute much to real world work environment but more for if want to pursue career as academicians. Taylors Lakeside University has very good facilities and the lecturers ensure that we make good use of them by including it as part of their class, so we get a practical approach to it.
The coursework and exams are balanced with 60/40 most of the time, which I really like because I’m not a studious person that goes by the book all the time. It also helps that the lecturers allow us to use the studio and computer labs whenever we need, so we have that extra advantage when it comes to executing projects!
As a student in Taylors, you’ll never fall short of looking for events to attend. They have many active clubs and societies, and they regularly organize events every few months. Festive celebrations, bazaars, book sales or just simple networking–students can definitely have a fulfilling education here.
