Employment While Studying In The US, Study Destination

International students can work in US while studying, but with certain conditions. Students who have a F-1 and M-1 visa are allowed to work part-time on campus. During their first academic year, students are not allowed to work off-campus and can only take student-oriented jobs.

Employment After Studying In The US

After graduating, international students can stay in the US for practical training or employment. They can opt to apply for an Optional Practical Training (OPT) which grants them an extension to stay and work in US for 12 months.

Students who are studying Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics can apply for an Optional Practical Training Extension (STEM OPT) after their F-1 visa expires to stay and work in US for 24 months after graduation.
